Alexander Krichel, born in Hamburg, Germany in 1989, is one of the most promising young German pianists of his generation. Audience and reviews do not only praise his outstanding technique and his youthful emotional as well as well thought-out interpretations but also his fascinating lyric and singing piano sound. He started his piano studies at the age of six, first being taught by his mother and Natalia Pogouliaeva. Alexander will continued her musical studies with Russian pianist professor Vladimir Kraijnev in the “Hochschule für Musik” in Hannover.

At age 15 he became pre-student at Hamburg University of Music and Drama (Prof. Ralf Nattkemper). Since 2007, he continues his studies with Prof. Vladimir Krainev at Hanover University of Music and Drama. After having won 1st prizes at piano competitions like the Steinway & Sons International Piano Competition and “Jugend musiziert”, the Federal Youth Music Competition of Germany and having captured the Schrader prize, which is donated to the best pianist in the entrance examination at Hanover University of Music and Drama he was invited to perform in renowned music halls, e.g. the “Laeiszhalle Hamburg” (Great Hall), the “Residenz” in Munich, the “Glocke Bremen” (Great Hall) and the “Luise-Albertz-Halle” in Oberhausen.Furthermore he was invited by well-known music organisations and festivals like the Bad Kissingen Summer Festival, the Bayreuth Piano Festival, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival (Rostock), the Chopin Society of Germany (Darmstadt), the “Beethoven Haus” (Bonn), the Brahms Society Schleswig-Holstein, the Rotary Club (Hamburg) and the Bavarian broadcasting (Munich). In addition he gave concerts in France, Slovakia and the USA.He appeared as a soloist with orchestras like the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cappella Istropolitana and the Slovak Sinfonietta and worked with conductors like Wojciech Rajski and Volker Schmidt-Gertenbach. In 2006 he was appointed chairman of the peer jury at the “Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition” in Salt Lake City, USA.He had masterclasses with Prof. Andrzej Jasinski, Prof. Matthias Kirschnereit, Valentin Gheorgiu, Prof. Dr. Paul Pollei, Prof. Natalia Browerman, Andreas Froelich and Prof. Vladimir Krainev.Alexander Krichel has gained scholarships set up by the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation, the Cusanuswerk and the PE Promotion Society for Music. In addition to his musical achievements, he still finds time for further challenges: he was recognised by the William Stern Society for particularly gifted mathematicians and invited to attend classes at the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Hamburg. |
